Design support for public sector, charities and not-for profits

Make complex ideas crystal clear with accessible, purposeful and detail-driven design

Viewing from all perspectives

I understand both the public and charity sectors because I’ve worked with them consistently since the start of my career. I know your particular challenges – whether that’s adapting to ever-changing legal and regulatory compliance or balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders. I appreciate the importance of building communities and public trust, and dealing with serious subjects with responsibility, impartiality and sensitivity.

I’m here to support your team when you need it the most. I’ve worked with teams across departments, organisations – even continents – and at all levels. I collaborate with external partners and suppliers, and manage all work from concept through to delivery.

I take into account the diverse nature of audiences – making my design clear, accessible, inclusive and representative. In fact, accessibility lies at the heart of my work. I strive to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AAA where possible and keep up to date with new legislation like the European Accessibility Act 2025.

Flexible support tailored to your needs

Every organisation has different design demands, from ongoing communications to one-off campaigns. I offer flexible ways of working to suit your schedule, budget and internal resources.

Ad-hoc design support

For teams who need occasional help with publications, campaigns or events, I provide responsive ad-hoc support. This can be adapting existing artwork or developing new designs in line with your brand and delivery requirements. I can step in when your internal team is stretched, ensuring deadlines are met and output remains consistent and professional.

Retainer or ongoing support

For organisations with a regular flow of design projects, a retainer arrangement offers continuity and familiarity. Acting as an extension of your marketing or design team, I get to know your brand and your processes. Retainers can be tailored to include a set number of design days each month or a flexible allocation based on demand.

Project-based work

When you have a defined campaign or rebrand, I can support your internal team or lead agency with roll-out. Working to your brand guidelines or campaign visuals, I can apply the designs across all the required artwork and templates – leaving you with a comprehensive brand kit of assets to use going forward.

Contact Sarah

“Sarah was fantastic to work with on our awards ceremony brochure. She adhered to our brand guidelines perfectly, but was able to bring her own touch to the designs. Throughout the project she was responsive, open to feedback, and quick to adapt any changes we requested. Despite a tight schedule, Sarah worked right through to the final deadline with great attention to detail.”

Frequently asked questions

What are your project management processes and can you work with our systems?

In an initial briefing we’ll chat through the project details, confirm the deliverables and schedule. I’ll raise any questions if anything is unclear and I’ll answer any questions that you may have. Then I’ll provide an itemised quote. If it’s accepted, I’ll request all files and brand assets. Many of my clients use Sharepoint for file management. I can also use Trello or Monday for all project tracking and feedback. Throughout the process, I keep in regular contact so you can be sure that everything is safely in hand and will be delivered as expected. Generally, the process follows this order: brief → design → review & iteration → production and delivery of final assets.

How do you work with other suppliers?

I’m used to working with suppliers from other aligned creative fields such as copywriters, photographers and web developers. Projects can often be multi-faceted so when several suppliers are involved, it’s important to establish deliverables and timings at each stage. Also, if you’re working with a large lead agency on a major project such as organisation branding or campaign development, I can support your internal teams with rolling-out those concepts across all required design material.

What are your turnaround times?

Depending on the project, indicative turnaround times are: concept stage 5-10 days, initial proof 3-7 days, amendments 1-2 days and artwork of final assets 1-2 days.

How do you invoice?

You’ll receive a detailed estimate at the start of the project that includes scope and agreed deliverables. If you operate a purchase order system, I can provide all details to your accounts department. At the end of the project (or stage) I’ll invoice you. If we have a retainer arrangement, this will be agreed and detailed in the contract.
